Welcome to Maria’s House
Montessori School at Deerfield Beach
Community Presbyterian Church

Maria’s House is quite simply, your child’s home away from home.  We encourage our students to make friends and care for their classroom.  It is important for all our children to feel peaceful and stimulated while at Maria’s House.

We have a great classroom which consists of children ranging from ages two and a half through First Grade.  There are three Montessori Teachers and one assistant.  The children are encouraged to greet the teachers each morning with a gentle handshake and a loving smile.  The children go to the lessons they enjoy and the teacher will show new lessons when she sees that they are ready to advance.

A priority at Maria’s House is the development of healthy relationships between friends and teachers.  It is important for a young child to trust his or her environment and the people in it.  We create opportunities for children to communicate with one another and to build cohesive friendships.

We have a wonderful group arts program available to the students each day. We begin the week with visual arts; the next day we will offer drama and music; mid-week the children participate in Taekwondo; and we end the week with music, dance and then fitness.

Once a week, the children have French classes which are reinforced with greetings in the morning and conversation with the teacher during lunch.

We enjoy chapel with Reverend Dr. Andrews once a week and also Peace Education with one of the teachers.

Families at Maria’s House have the opportunity to enroll their child in piano classes with Harris Indowsky or take small group violin instruction with Miss Peggy.

We are excited about our brand new children’s choir which performs once a month during church services.   All students and their siblings are welcome to participate.

The academic program at Maria’s House is challenging and creative.  The Montessori Philosophy encourages children to stay with the same teacher or teachers for at least three years.  This allows the teacher and the child to develop a strong relationship and an intrinsic knowledge of one another.  This makes for an enjoyable working environment.

It is our belief that all children should love learning.  Without curiosity and love of knowledge, school becomes drudgery.  At Maria’s House, school is a place where learning is exciting and work is invigorating.

Come in for a visit and see for yourself!   We accept students throughout the year.
